Pankaj Ghemawat

Anselmo Rubiralta Professor of Global Strategy at IESE Business School

Pankaj Ghemawat is the Anselmo Rubiralta Professor of Global Strategy at IESE Business School.

He is also the Global Professor of Management and Strategy and Director of the Center for the Globalization of Education and Management at the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Between 1983 and 2008, he was on the faculty at the Harvard Business School where, in 1991, he became the youngest person in the school’s history to be appointed a full professor.

Dr. Ghemawat’s current research and teaching focuses on the dynamics of globalization and how corporations can devise effective strategies for crossing borders.

He has recently been named holder of the Anselmo Rubiralta Chair of Strategy and Globalization. His most recent article on the topic "Regional Strategies for Global Leadership," received the McKinsey Award for the best article published in the Harvard Business Review in 2005.

In 2007, he published "Global Strategy: What’s Different?" with Harvard Business School Press.

His other publications include Commitment (Free Press, 1991), Games Businesses Play (MIT Press, 1997), Strategy and the Business Landscape (Addison Wesley Longman, 1999) — and Strategy and the Business Landscape 2nd Edition (Pearson Prentice Hall, 2006), as well as several dozen articles and case studies. He also serves on the editorial boards of various scholarly journals.

Dr. Ghemawat has a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Business Economics from Harvard University.
