Edward Bernton

Physician and Consultant

Edward Bernton has worked for more than 25 years in the field of clinical pharmacology and early-phase drug development.

He received his M.D. from Georgetown University and is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Allergy/Immunology/Asthma. He served 22 years as an officer in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, including 12 years doing basic and clinical research at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.

He is currently consults part-time for small biotech companies, assisting with the early-stage development of new vaccines and new treatments for cancer and autoimmune diseases.

Dr. Bernton previously served as Principal Consultant for Early Phase for a global contract research organization. He has been the research protocol author or clinical investigator on over 30 clinical trials including many first-in-man studies for novel small molecules, biopharmaceutics, and vaccines and several oncology trials. At this point, he actively seeks volunteer work which might leave the world a better place for his children and grand-children.
