Alexander Grau

Alexander Grau holds a doctorate in philosophy and works as a freelance cultural and scientific journalist. After his military service, he studied philosophy and linguistics at the Freie Universität Berlin, and was awarded a doctorate in philosophy in 1998.

He has been working as a freelance journalist since 2003, and has been published mainly on topics of culture and ideas, in particular the philosophy, theology and history of modern culture.

Grau is a columnist at Cicero online since June 2013. His column “Grauzone,” which runs every Saturday, is concerned with questions of the political and social Zeitgeist. In the lifestyle magazine Tweed, his column “Lesezeichen” covers books which a gentleman must have read.

Grau also regularly devotes himself to media psychology and media history. In the series “Portrait,” he presents the most important and exciting scientists that deal with the current development of the media. He lives and works in Munich.
